Mid-Week
Work at Whitehead
RPSI volunteer, Tony Ragg,
was working as part of the mid-week gang and brought his camera with him.
If you had been at Whitehead
on Thursday 21st April 2005, then you could have witnessed scenes like
this:
|
Our 0-6-0ST
No.3, R H Smyth (known to friends as 'Harvey') has been out of action
following expiry of its current boiler certificate. The loco saw
extensive action hauling ballast wagons during the relay
of the Antrim-Bleach Green railway line and subsequently was due some
tlc! Here we see one of her driving wheelsets in the wheel lathe. |
| Meanwhile, over in the machining area,
Harvey's knuckle joint was being bored in the mill. |
|
|
Whilst all this was going on, John, one
of the RPSI's resident engineers, was carrying out some detailed welding
on No.461's outer firebox.
A big change is visible in only a few weeks. This is only able to
happen with your help in funding the 461
appeal - please do consider giving now if you havent already done so
(thanks to those who have). |
I hope this has given you a fun insight
into work behind the scenes at Whitehead.

don't you come and join us?
