Step into an evening of creativity, history, and mindful making with Victorian Blooms and Felted Treasures, a unique three-hour workshop set in the atmospheric surroundings of Whitehead Railway Museum’s Victorian tearoom.

Beginning at 6pm, you’ll be gently introduced to the enchanting world of Floriography—the Victorian “Language of Flowers.” Discover how blooms once carried hidden meanings, allowing people to express emotions and messages that words could not. This engaging talk will offer insight into the symbolism behind popular flowers and the fascinating social customs that shaped this delicate form of communication.

Following the introduction, you’ll transition into a relaxing, hands-on needle felting session. Guided step-by-step, you’ll create your own beautiful floral keepsake using a carefully prepared selection of materials, including a 100% wool base fabric, soft felting wool, a felting needle and an embroidery hoop for framing. All tools and materials are provided for use during the workshop, along with printed instructions to support your creative process.

This workshop is designed to be as calming as it is inspiring. The gentle, repetitive motions of needle felting encourage focus, reduce stress and provide a mindful escape from the busyness of everyday life.

To complement the evening, enjoy a delightful twilight tea featuring sausage rolls, sandwiches, warming soup and a selection of traybakes, served alongside tea and coffee. Each participant will also receive a complimentary glass of prosecco or a non-alcoholic alternative.

With places limited to just 12 participants, this adults-only workshop offers an intimate and supportive environment—perfect for unwinding, learning something new and creating a meaningful piece to remember the experience.

Join us from 6pm–9pm for a truly special evening of history, creativity and quiet indulgence.
